How to Root and Unroot Samsung Galaxy Ace 2

Samsung is having a tough time with their Dual Sim Android phones as many companies have launched multiple versions of ICS and Jelly Bean based Android devices with dual network capability. Galaxy Ace 2 is a new version of older Ace version but its not a dual sim. Samsung has just tweaked some specs and you will get a better configured Android Gingerbread device. Recently, Samsung has introduced an Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware update for Ace 2. We are here detailing the updated root/ unroot procedure for Galaxy Ace 2 for people who got unrooted when they updated. We will be updating you about the different ICS and Jelly Bean based custom ROM for Ace 2 very soon.

Pre-Requisites:

Step 1: The article should only be tried on Samsung Galaxy Ace 2.

Step 2: Your device should be charged so that there is at least 70% charge with it, this way there will be no Power interruption during the process.

Step 3: You should backup all valuable data’s on your phone, so that there is no data loss during the process.

Step 4: Disable all Security programs like Antivirus and Firewall from your computer and uninstall the same from your phone, as these security programs generally tend to interrupt the process.

Step 5: Enable USB Debugging in your Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The option of USB Debugging should be ticked.

Download Odin, Update Package, Root Package and Stock Firmware from here to your computer. Install Odin on your PC and place the “Update Package” into the root directory of your device’s SD card.

How to Root Samsung Galaxy Ace 2:

Step 1: Open Odin and reboot your phone so as to enter it in Download Mode. To do so, when your phone is OFF, press and hold the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons together until the screen turns ON.

Step 2: Now, connect your phone to the PC using original USB cable.

Step 3: If the ID: COM section in Odin turns Yellow it means that your device has been recognized by Odin.

Step 4: Now, click on “PDA” button and then choose the “Root Package” file you have downloaded earlier.

Step 5: Ensure that only “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” checkboxes are checked in Odin, do not touch any other thing in Odin.

Step 6: Now, click on “Start” button to begin the flashing process.

Step 7: As soon as the flashing process has completed, your device will automatically reboot.

Step 8: Once again reboot your device so as to enter it in Recovery Mode. To do so, when your phone is OFF, press and hold the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons together until the screen turns ON.

Step 9: Now, from the main recovery menu, select “install zip from sdcard” then select “choose zip from sdcard” and then select the “Update Package” you’ve placed on the SD Card.

Step 10: When the flashing process has competed, simply reboot your device.

How to Unroot Samsung Galaxy Ace 2:

Step 1: Open Odin and reboot your phone so as to enter it in Download Mode. To do so, when your phone is OFF, press and hold the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons together until the screen turns ON.

Step 2: Now, connect your phone to the PC using original USB cable.

Step 3: The ID: COM section in Odin will turn “Yellow”, it means that your device has been recognized by Odin.

Step 4: Now, click on “PDA” button and then choose the “Stock Frimware” file you have downloaded earlier.

Step 5: Ensure that only “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” checkboxes are checked in Odin, do not touch any other thing in Odin.

Step 6: Now, click on “Start” button to begin the flashing process.

Step 7: As soon as the flashing process has completed, your device will automatically reboot.

    1. At first download root.zip for ace 2 then power off your mobile.Then press volume up+home+power button .Then go to apply from external storage .Then go to your download you will find root.zip then press your power button .your root will be start .you are done!!!!!

  1. devils in the details here, how long does it take? Odin fails, 0/0 successful and the phone screen stuck in downloading… with odin up in the left corner. come screen shot ETA etc would really improve this. No mention of the caution screen that pops up…
